We've worked on the tools, in the van and in the office. We've seen businesses that ran by the book and ones that ran on the owner's memory, and both can work.

Most software picks one way to run a service business and makes you follow it. Tekne doesn't. The office decides how the business works, and the tech's phone follows what the office set.

What that looks like

• The office decides what the business uses. A team that bills labour only leaves parts off. A team that wants every bill checked against the estimate sets the limit to block.
• The tech sees the next step on the phone. A step turns green because the work happened, so nothing gets skipped without it showing.
• Each trade gets its own package on top of the base, starting with appliance repair.
• Tax is worked out from the job's address, not from memory.
